recovering sworn addict

speaking of which, i just bought another shoo yesterday. no, i don't intend to recover or go to rehab for this. muahaha! now, where is imelda?

neither am i ashamed of my addiction to good food. being where i am now with VERY easy access to food make me a shameful salivating wuman who chomps on anything on a plate and with gravy.

but these days, i just have to be extra careful with the eating places i go to.
  • some place that looked halal on the outside doesn't mean it serves halal food.
  • some place that served halal food does serve alcohol.
  • ditanggung halal logo is not the same with the halal jakim logo and definitely doesn't mean it is halal since jakim doesn't certify.
  • no pork, no lard doesn't mean it's halal.
  • malay servers and waitresses don't mean the outlet is halal.

there were very few muslim food-bloggers, therefore the non's do mostly the reviews on the good food. sometimes they tag an outlet that don't serve pork but freely provide beers as halal, since they do not know the exact conditions to have the halal flag. and since some close-minded malays also patronized these kind of places contributed to this major confusion.

one of the non's expressed his confusion of how does an outlet gets a halal tag, because some outlets are only pork-free but serves beer and vice versa. it takes much more than being a pork and alcohol free outlet to get the certification from jakim - the board which monitors halal status. the certification process is tedious and consumes time and money, that is why certain operators opted not and ditched the halal logo altogether. surprise inspection is also a hard rule to abide to.

so, the food served may be halal, but can we be assured that the utensils used aren't tampered with the non-halal stuffs? that they aren't put together in the dishwasher? it's either halal or non-halal, not this stuff is halal, that is not, in the same food outlet.

i'm not a devout muslim, but i try my best to be one. and it all begins with the food i eat. kerana setiap makanan yang dimakan akan menjadi darah dan daging. baik makanan yang dimakan, mudahlah melakukan ibadah dan kebajikan, jika tidak?

makanya, tepuk dada, tanyalah iman. islam itu mudah, bukan bermakna kita boleh memudahkan mengikut selera tekak kita.
